North Seattle School Crossing Safety Enhancements

Broadview Thompsen K-8 (Greenwood Ave N and N 130th St) and Lakeside School (1st Ave NE and N 135th St)
Northgate Elementary (1st Ave NE and N 120th St) and Ingraham High School (Meridian Ave NE and N 135th St)
Project Overview
Our project team coordinated with 4 north Seattle schools (Lakeside, Ingraham, Broadview Thomson, and Northgate) to improve visibility and enhance safety for kids walking and biking to school with new colorful crosswalk designs. After studying the various crosswalk locations and traffic counts, we will repaint existing crosswalks and install 4 new brightly colored crosswalks in the spring/summer of 2021.

Project Area
New crosswalks will be added to the following intersections near each North Seattle School:
- Lakeside School 1st Ave NE and N 135th St
- Northgate Elementary 1st Ave NE and N 120th St
- Ingraham High School Meridian Ave NE and N 135th St
- Broadview Thompsen K-8 Greenwood Ave NE and N 130th St
Schedule
The Neighborhood Street Fund program runs on 3-year cycles to select, design, and build projects. The application phase for the 2019-2021 cycle opened October 2018 and projects will be constructed in 2021.

Project Background
In 2019, the North Seattle School Crossing Safety Enhancements project was one of 15 projects selected by the Levy to Move Seattle Oversight Committee to be funded through SDOT's Neighborhood Street Fund (NSF) Program.
