Little Brook Sidewalks

Updated: April 29, 2024

This project is complete!

The Little Brook Sidewalks project was completed in April, 2024.

What’s happening now?

We're excited to share the completion of the Little Brook Sidewalks project!

Our crews have finished all construction work on the new concrete sidewalk along the north side of NE 143rd Street, between NE 30th Avenue to NE 32nd Avenue. Now, there's a dedicated pathway for pedestrians to walk and connect to the recently completed sidewalk on 32nd Ave NE.

Here’s what we did:

  • Built a new concrete sidewalk on the north side of NE 143rd St between 30th Ave NE and 32nd Ave NE.
  • Rebuilt existing driveways per City standards.
  • Maintained parallel parking on the north side of the street adjacent to the new sidewalk.
  • Removed perpendicular parking adjacent to the new sidewalk within the right-of-way.

We want to thank everyone who took part in the community prioritization process for the Little Brook Sidewalks project. Your input has been invaluable in making this project a reality!

Project Overview

Little Brook is a rapidly growing neighborhood lacking sidewalks at key locations. We’ve improve walkability by constructing new sidewalks on 143rd St to fill gaps in the sidewalk network and connect people walking to transit, businesses, and community destinations.

The new sidewalk on 143rd St provides a safer, more comfortable, and more accessible route for walking and rolling along this neighborhood, while helping to improve drainage and slow down driver speeds on residential streets.

We're grateful for the hard work of our crews and look forward to delivering a safer and more efficient transportation environment for our communities.

Project Background

In 2019, the Little Brook Sidewalks project was one of 15 projects selected by the Levy to Move Seattle Oversight Committee to be funded through SDOT’s Neighborhood Street Fund (NSF) Program. The project, located on 32nd Ave NE and NE 143rd St in Little Brook, aims to improve walkability in Little Brook through the construction of new sidewalk and walkway improvements.

We completed a new sidewalk on 32nd Ave NE in 2022 and completed a new painted walkway on the north side of NE 143rd St in 2023.

Project Funding

This project is funded by the 9-year Levy to Move Seattle, approved by voters in 2015. Learn more about the levy at www.seattle.gov/LevytoMoveSeattle.
