Updated September 20, 2023

What's happening now?

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

We would like to invite YOU to participate in the Little Brook Healthy Street Plaza design and Park redevelopment project.

At this event we will share the current schematic design of the park space and begin gathering input for the design of a pedestrian plaza extension to the park in the permanent closed section of 32nd Ave Northeast, in front of the Little Brook Park where the permanent Little Brook Healthy Street is located.

The Little Brook Healthy Street plaza project is in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation who has been leading the Little Brook Park redevelopment

When: Friday, September 22, 2023
Time: 4pm- 7pm
Location: 14043 32nd Ave NE, Seattle, WA 9812

Please join us and provide your feedback. We'll have activities for kids, music, food, and refreshments.

Last fall we were excited to announce that the Little Brook Healthy Street will become permanent. Our next phase will be working on installing new improvements that will enhance the existing closure for neighbors to safely enjoy the closed street while also ensuring emergency vehicles have access to the area. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you to all the neighbors that have provided us with input and feedback!

We asked neighbors how the Little Brook Healthy Street is working for them and what they think of making it permanent. Here is a full report of the results. We collected 141 surveys (both paper and online) (99 in English, 40 in Spanish, and 2 in Amharic) with 81% in favor of making the Healthy Street space permanent.  You can find the survey summary here.

Project overview

Stay Healthy Streets make it possible for people to walk, roll, and bike in the street while staying 6 feet apart during the COVID-19 pandemic. Installed as part of our emergency response to the pandemic in 2020, they also provide an opportunity to consider how they might improve communities beyond the pandemic.

The Little Brook Stay Healthy Street was requested by neighbors. We installed it in April 2021 as a 3-month pilot. We extended the pilot through at least November. With the community organization Lake City Collective taking the lead, many neighbors are enjoying the extra space with activities like basketball, gardening, wellness classes, and movie nights. All are welcome to join. We're collecting input from neighbors about the Stay Healthy Street and whether it should be made permanent.
