Wedgwood to Roosevelt Neighborhood Greenway
Updated: February 2, 2022
The Wedgwood to Roosevelt Neighborhood Greenway is now open for use.
In 2021 we installed traffic calming, wayfinding, and pavement markings along the greenway route shown below. This project included new speed humps with a spit in the center for easier bicycle navigation, located about every 300 feet along the neighborhood streets. To prioritize people walking and biking along the neighborhood greenway we installed new stop signs at intersecting neighborhood streets.
We completed pavement repair and installed new flashing beacon crossings on 15th Ave NE in coordination with the 15th Ave NE Paving project.
Decorative intersection installation
We have completed the installation of the decorative intersection at NE 68th St and 21St Ave NE. The new intersection highlights the connection to the park and does not restrict the way people drive on the street.

Project Overview
The Wedgwood to Roosevelt Neighborhood Greenway will provide a safer connection for people walking and biking between the Wedgwood Neighborhood Greenway (39th Ave NE) and the Roosevelt neighborhood. The planned neighborhood greenway connects residents to local schools, parks, and businesses as well as the citywide transportation network. The new neighborhood greenway will connect affordable, active transportation options for people of all ages and abilities.
What's a Neighborhood Greenway?
Neighborhood greenways are safer, calmer residential streets for you, your family, and neighbors. We make people walking and biking the priority.
Neighborhood greenways can include:
- 20 mph speed limit signs
- speed humps to calm traffic
- stop signs for side streets crossing the neighborhood greenway
- signs and pavement markings to help people find their way
- easier crossings of busy streets with crosswalks, flashing beacons, or traffic signals
The Wedgwood to Roosevelt neighborhood greenway will enhance safe access for students walking and biking to Roosevelt High School and the Northeast Branch Seattle Public Library. The greenway will connect people between protected bike lanes, an existing neighborhood greenway, and the Burke Gilman Trail.
