SR 520 Montlake Phase Construction

Project Overview

Starting as soon as late 2018, WSDOT construction crews will begin four to five years of work on the SR 520 Montlake Phase. This phase includes a new Montlake interchange, lid and land bridge, and the completion of the eastbound half of the SR 520 west approach bridge. During Montlake Phase construction, there will be disruptions for people driving, biking, walking and riding transit in the neighborhood. We're committed to working with the Montlake community and our partners at WSDOT to keep neighborhood streets calm and address issues that may develop.

To get a head start, a Neighborhood Traffic Management Plan was developed, along with a process for people to request traffic-calming treatments for their street. Visit WSDOT's project page to learn more about the project, get updates, read the plan and make traffic calming requests.

We've also launched the 23rd Ave E Vision Zero Project to enhance safety and mobility on 23rd Ave E and 24th Ave E between E John Street and E Roanoke Street. Vision Zero is our plan to end traffic deaths and serious injuries on City streets by 2030. Visit the project web page to learn more or sign up for updates.
