Judkins Park Station Access Project

Overview

The projects selected were based on the priorities in the Pedestrian Master Plan and leveraging opportunities to support community needs found in the Judkins Park Station Access Study. Additionally, Thurgood Marshall Elementary School and Washington Middle School would be served by these projects and are identified as priority schools in SDOT's Safe Routes to School Action Plan.

Background

The future Judkins Park light rail station is set to open in 2023. To ensure changes work in concert with community interests and light rail, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) and the Office of Planning and Community Development (OPCD) partnered to conduct a study and identify opportunities which can be found in the Judkins Park Station Access Study.

SDOT is able to partner with Sound Transit and utilize funds from the System Access Fund Program to construct several projects as follows:

  • Walkways and ADA upgrades
  • Hiawatha Pl S Staircase
  • Mountains to Sound Trail Lighting

Community Outreach

As this project develops, we will provide regular updates on the project website and to nearby residences.  This will include notification of construction activities and any anticipated disruptions.
