Seattle Information Technology team members have been honored with many professional awards in various industries over the years.
2024:
The City of Seattle was awarded a third-place finish for a city with a population over 500,000 in the 24th annual Digital Cities Survey. The Digital Cities award recognizes cities like Seattle that excel in modernizing IT infrastructure, investing in digital equity, enhancing resident services, and prioritizing data security
Seattle IT team members recognized for their outstanding contributions at the 2024 Excellence in Leadership Awards given by the Seattle Management Association (SMA). Ginger Armbruster, Chief Privacy Officer, was honored with the Individual Award for City Government Service, acknowledging her exceptional dedication and innovative work that has significantly benefited our community.
Our Digital Workplace Team also received the Team Award for City Government Service. This accolade highlights their collaborative spirit and exceptional ability to adapt and innovate to create a seamless digital environment for our organization.
The City of Seattle won a Project Experience Award from the Center for Digital Government in September 2024. The award recognizes the Digital Engagement Team's approach to redesigning and standardizing information about government assistance in an inclusive and consistent manner using plain language. The Assistance and Discounts section of Seattle.gov surfaces content about programs and services across the 7,000 pages of the website, plus additional programs from external sources.
Seattle Channel is the recipient of three Northwest Emmy Awards in the categories of public affairs program, human interest short form content, and video essayist.
The City of Seattle has been named the winner in the IDC Government Insights Smart Cities North America Awards in the Digital Equity and Accessibility category. This award recognizes Seattle Information Technology’s Digital Engagement Team for its Inclusive Design Initiatives.
CiviForm, the City of Seattle’s unified benefits application tool, was recognized with a 2024 Silver Anthem Award for excellence in a product dedicated to advancing humanitarian action and services. The program makes it easier for residents to find and apply for multiple City discounts and benefits in one place.
2023:
The City of Seattle won 5th place for Overall Experience in the Center for Digital Government (CDG)’s 2023 Government Experience Awards. The awards recognize the achievements of states, cities, and counties that have raised the bar on the digital experience of government services to create a better-engaged constituency and a more responsive government. The work also helps build trust between state and local governments and the people they serve.
The City of Seattle’s CiviForm, a unified application tool, was named one of the 50 most transformative smart projects of 2023 by Smart Cities Connect. CiviForm is an open-source tool that makes it easier for residents and their trusted community-based organizations to find and apply to discount and benefit programs.
The Seattle Channel wins five Northwest Emmy Awards in the categories of arts/entertainment, business/consumer, diversity equity inclusion, human interest and video essayist.
2022:
The City of Seattle was named a Digital Inclusion Trailblazer by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA). The city made the list for the sixth time due to its leadership in digital equity.
Seattle IT was part of the City of Seattle team recognized as a 2022 EPEAT Purchaser Award winner, celebrating leaders in sustainable electronics procurement. The award comes from the Global Electronics Council (GEC), the non-profit organization that manages the EPEAT ecolabel. EPEAT allows City of Seattle to efficiently address the lifecycle impacts of the electronics we purchase, including computers, displays, printers, copiers, network equipment, mobile phones, servers, photovoltaic modules, inverters, and televisions. The sustainability impact is a cost savings of $178,962 annually. The City of Seattle also won this award in 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
The Seattle.gov website was selected as a Website of the Year Finalist for the 2022 Granicus Digital Government Awards. The award goes to organizations that enhanced their website to meet the needs of modern citizens.
The City of Seattle Was named a finalist for a 2022 Overall Government Experience Award by the Center for Digital Government. Award criteria includes user experience, accessibility, consistency, and innovation.
2021:
Seattle IT won a Project Experience Award from the Center for Digital Government on September 15. The Winter Storm Response website won an award for its strategic approach to major events leveraging human-centered design methods and engaging ten departments across the City. This website launched in December 2020 and received heavy traffic during Seattle’s record-breaking snowfall in February 2021. Projects were judged against eight criteria.
The City of Seattle was named as a Digital Inclusion Trailblazer once again by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA). Digital Inclusion Trailblazers is a public inventory of local government initiatives promoting digital literacy and broadband access for underserved residents.
