Woodland Park is an exciting, multipurpose park and recreation space just southwest of Green Lake and north of the Fremont district. It is separated into two parts by Aurora Avenue.
The side west of Aurora is largely occupied by the Woodland Park Zoo, but also includes some picnic space, a formal rose garden, a few open spaces, and a play area for children. East of Aurora, just south of Green Lake Park, the park is an ideal spot for picnics with reservable picnic areas, barbecues, woods, pleasant grassy hills and pathways. It is also one of the city's most active hubs for sports and recreation, including walkway paths, several playfields, tennis courts, lawn bowling, horseshoe pits, a skatepark, and a large, wooded dog off-leash area.
Lower Woodland Park Office Renovation Project
The building had sustained fire damage in December 2020. After securing funding to repair the office building, Seattle Parks and Recreation began to design work to rehabilitate the building. The project will replace the roof structure, repair fire damage to the interiors, and to update the exterior accessibility route from the parking lot to the building. The project was awarded to the successful responsible low bidder in June 2024. Construction is set to begin in July 2024.
Budget
The budget for the planning, design and construction is $2.75M
