Donnie Chin International Childrens Park
About
This park is a fun spot for play in the middle of the busy Chinatown International District neighborhood. Built in 1981 and renovated in 2012, the park offers an open lawn, picnic area, gathering spaces, beautiful landscaping and a new play area that offers varied play opportunities and equipment including drums. An iconic bronze dragon sculpture created by artist Gerard Tsutakawa is beautiful and used as play equipment by children who frequent the park. Local Seattle artist Stuart Nakamura was chosen to create new art pieces for the renovated park. With the help of the community(children from the Denise Louie Education Center and seniors from Legacy House), Nakamura designed 3 different pieces to represent the different cultural elements in the neighborhood. The sculptures are a spinning top, I-Ching Coin and SepakTakraw Ball.
