Ward Springs Play Area Renovation
Updated: December 11, 2023
December 2023
Thank you to everyone who participated in the initial community outreach phase this fall! The survey has now closed. From what we’ve heard from everyone we met at the Queen Anne halloween harvest market, from those who came out to our pop-up outreach event in the Ward Springs Pumphouse, as well as everyone who shared their input on the project kick-off survey, it is clear that the Ward Springs Play Area is beloved by the community.
The community engagement notes, survey results, and outreach summary are located in the Community Participation section below.
The Ward Springs Play Area Renovation Project is currently in the design phase. Our design team is incorporating everything we have heard from the community to form the potential design of the new play area for Ward Springs Park. We will be reaching back out in January 2024 with three potential design concept options for the community to provide feedback on. Please watch this site for upcoming engagement opportunities.
Location
Ward Springs Park: 925 4th Ave N, 98109
Budget
Seattle Parks District Major Maintenance provides $430,000 for planning, design, construction.
Schedule
Planning: Summer - Fall 2023
Design: Fall – Winter 2023/2024
Construction: 2024
Project Description
This project will replace the existing play equipment with new equipment that meets current safety and accessibility standards. All improvements will be compliant with the standards from the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
During construction, the contractor will need to close the play area portion of the park. Seattle Parks and Recreation and the contractor hired for the project will work to minimize impact to the neighborhood. Thank you for your understanding as we all work towards a new play area for children of all ages and abilities!
