Gig Worker Paid Sick and Safe Time Law
The protections of the Gig Worker Paid Sick and Safe Time law were effective from July 13, 2020 through April 30, 2023. Covered employees accrued and could use sick and safe leave accrued under this law between July 13, 2020 and April 30, 2023. Covered businesses must provide written notice of the law’s rights to employees through October 31, 2025.
The Office of Labor Standards has the authority to investigate potential violations of this law until October 31, 2025. Employees with complaints are encouraged to approach the Office with their complaints as soon as possible. The Department may not be able to investigate complaints that are lodged after April 1, 2025. Workers may contact OLS by calling (206) 256-5297 or by filling out this form (click here).
