Community Risk Reduction
The Seattle Fire Department uses a community risk reduction program to guide our fire prevention initiatives. Community Risk Reduction (or CRR) is a process that involves gathering data about the people we serve and what they need; about our buildings and infrastructure; and about our incidents and the risks we may need to respond to. With this understanding, SFD then determines priorities for our budget, training, public education and prevention programs. CRR is an important part of SFD’s ability to meet our mission:
“To save lives and protect property through emergency medical service, fire and rescue response and fire prevention. We respond immediately when any member of our community needs help with professional, effective and compassionate service.”
