Community visits and station tours

We are committed to providing fire and life safety education to Seattle’s diverse communities. 

Station tours and community visits are scheduled between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday – Sunday. During tours and visits, firefighters remain in-service, which means crews may need to end the visit or tour and respond to emergencies.

Please note, all requests need to be made at least four weeks in advance and not more than three months in advance. Minimum age for tours and visits is three.

Fire Prevention Division 

The Fire Prevention Division enforces the Seattle Fire Code and life safety requirements in both new and existing buildings. This includes fire systems testing, permits, inspections, fire investigations, fire code complaints, plan review and technician certifications. Our mission is to protect property and preserve lives for all who live, work and recreate in Seattle.

45 minute, in-person presentations for apartment and condo communities that can be tailored for residents or managers.

Public records requests 

The City of Seattle is now processing public disclosure requests through a web portal called the City of Seattle Public Records Request Center (PRRC). The PRRC is designed to assist you in organizing and tracking the progress of your request(s) and downloading records. With the transition to the PRRC, the City will be charging minimal fees for copying and transmitting electronic and non-electronic records in accordance with state law. 

To request a record, submit through the Public Records Request Center.

Smoke/carbon monoxide alarm program  

Seattle residents may qualify for a free smoke/carbon monoxide combination alarm to be installed by Seattle Fire personnel. We also offer strobe alarms for deaf/hard of hearing residents. Check eligibility and learn about the program.

Tours and Visits 

Schedule a firefighter visit to a school or community event (e.g. parade, festival) or for you to visit your neighborhood fire station. Tours and visits must be requested at least three weeks ahead and no more than three months in advance. We do not attend or host birthday parties.

Training Division 

The Training division supports all training activities for the Seattle Fire Department from recruit to veteran firefighter. Areas of training include all means in which the Seattle Fire Department responds within the community.
